Provincial Qualifier 2

Congratulations to All our provincial athletes that participated at the Second Provincial Qualifier this weekend!
York Stars athletes have shown a steady improvement and the results at the second qualifier reflect the hard work of both the athletes and their coaches (despite many injuries, sickness and some vacations😊).
At this qualifier, York Stars athletes won 6 bronze medals, 5 silver and 7 gold medals! Many York Stars athletes were called to the podium at this competition to get awarded for 4th to 8th places as well.
2A – Amelia and Sophie Tong – congratulations on their first competitive season ever! They had tied for overall (LOL – true twins), finishing 11th.
Unfortunately, Amelia Tong did not qualify to championships by mere 0.05! Tough competition! Good luck to Sophie and Amelia at Rhythm Fest – keep working hard!
2B – Genevieve Boudreau improved her overall score by a whole point! But because of a disappointing ball routine at first qualifier, her combined score wasn’t enough for her to qualify.
Julia Zagrubska performed steady at both qualifiers and has qualified to championships!
3A – Emma Zhou tried her best at this competition and got 5th in free – huge improvement from her first qualifier!
She has finished 13th overall amongst 23 athletes – earning a qualifying to championships spot. Unfortunately, due to a shaky hoop routine at 1st qualifier, combined score wasn’t enough to advance to championships. We would like to congratulate Emma on improving her overall score by an outstanding 4.2 ( almost another full routine …LOL)! Keep working hard 🙂
Congratulations to Catherine Ren for participating in her first ever competition season at a provincial level and good luck at Rhythm Fest!
Stephanie Shen has competed despite her injury. She had improved her hoop routine dramatically and has won a bronze medal! She has finished 6th overall from 23 athletes competed! Congratulations on that routine and for qualifying to the championships too😊!
3B – Liza Lialina competed amongst athletes with potential to advance to National level and has shown a dramatic improvement at this qualifier! She has placed 5th overall, with 4th in free, 7th in rope and a Gold medal in ball! Despite improving her overall score by almost 4 points! she has missed qualifying to championships by 0.166 due to disappointing mistakes in her rope routine.
3C – Audrey Romanovich competed amongst athletes with potential to advance to National level and upped her overall score by 1.7! She got 3rd in free and ball! Finishing 4th overall and qualifying to Championships!
4A – Liza Katkova has improved her free routine a lot! Keep up the hard work and good luck at Rhythm Fest!
Ksenya Kiseliuk qualified to her first ever provincial championships! Congrats!

4B – Gladdens Lau finished 4th overall, placing 6th for free, 3rd for hoop, and 2nd in her choice of apparatus (ball). In total, Gladdens improved her overall score by 1.5, finishing second in the cumulative ranking of both qualifiers! Good luck at championships!
